Product Description Summary & Analysis (Draft 3)

PEARL REAR VISION

The website “https://www.pearlauto.com” (n.d.) puts forward the purpose, features, and advantages of the Pearl Rear Vison. Pearl Rear Vision is a solar powered backup camera for cars which provides the driver with an extensive vision of the car’s surroundings. With state-of-the-art image processing of “high dynamic range scenes”, the rear-view screen is viewable under direct sunlight while the dark mode enables visibility in an inferior light situation. It has a caution system which provides the driver with an audible and optical caution when there are obstructions to the lane the driver is backing up into, caused by incoming traffic. The caution may be in the form of a vibration or sound which becomes firmer as obstacles are in closer proximity. Not only can the rear view camera be readily installed on the car’s number plate, it is theft proof and uses the driver’s phone via the Pearl app as a rear-view screen.

Assuming cost is taken out of the equation it is easy to understand why Pearl Rear Vision is one of the best backup cameras in the market.

The biggest drawback about the website “https://www.pearlauto.com” (n.d.) is the fact that there was no mention about the cost of the Pearl Rear Vision. According to Burgett (2016), the cost of Pearl Rear Vison is $500. Comparing that price to other rear view cameras from two website articles by Vazharov & Stefan (2016) as well as from Top 10 Reviews (2016), it is obvious that other backup cameras which also provide a wide field of view and night vision capabilities cost much lesser than the Pearl Rear Vision. The most expensive backup camera from the website Top 10 Reviews (2016), the QuickVu costs $259.99, while the cheapest one the Chuanganzhuo Backup Camera and Monitor Kit costs only $32.99.

According to Pearl Auto (2016), Pearl Rear Vision provides a 180-degree range of vision which is higher than any other product from the website article Top 10 Reviews (2016). Unlike most after-market wireless backup cameras which require a complicated installation process with running wires through the car, the Pearl Rear Vision is absolutely wireless as it is solar powered. Etherington (2016) describes the night vision capabilities of the Pear Rear Vision as such, “better than what you’d get from any OEM backup cam system I’ve used thus far, let alone inexpensive aftermarket options from Amazon”.

On one hand, if cost is not an issue then the Pearl Rear Vision is the go to aftermarket backup camera. On the other hand, if cost is the issue, according to Gannon (2016) Pearl provides a three-year guarantee for the product and also according to Jordan (2016) in the case of theft, Pearl will replace the product by sending them the OBD adapter.
